![]() ![]() And as you weren't quite sure about the wounds, you have a GOOD chance of bleeding to death the first few missions as you didn't bring / brought the wrong first aid stuff. When your starting mission is worth $500, and the next "real" mission is worth $1100, and most weapons you got as loot are only like 2-400, you practically have to go solo on the first X trips. The constant fight with the camera to get a good angle, constant complaint about lousy weapon range (and you practically have to get close to get good hits, but also you get hit as nobody wears any sort of body armor) However, now the problem seem to be WORSE as you earn money from mission to mission, but you also need to spend big $$$ to hire companion(s) to go with you on the missions. The 3D models are low-poly, textures are lousy, but this is a ten year old game (well, roughly), and modern hardware had no problem running it, and the gameplay held up quite well.Īnd the memories come back. weird.Īny way, with graphics turned to the max and 4x AA and all that, the graphics are good. There could have been a few spies, but the backstories are just that. While Soviets do have female snipers, no women from US or UK or any other nation got combat training that I know of, much less became special operators. And in the interest of gender equality, they managed to add a lot of female combat soldiers that simply does NOT exist as veterans from WW2, and I do mean snipers and whatnot. Okay, I'm playing Sentinels, and it's basically Silent Storm meets Jagged Alliance. Were I ever to code a game, I'd be sure to include that (but with better inventory management of said items). I love finding new guns on the dead bodies of fallen enemies, and getting to keep as much as I can carry of the battlefield. One of my favorite aspects of the game is the "See it, Take it, Keep it" theme. I usually practice marksmanship by levelling entire towns with rifles, or hacking away a wall to collapse a building while practicing melee - for some reason it never gets dull. ![]() I've only had that encounter once and it was the first Panzer fight I had that game, which made it doubly-difficult - but I walked out with lots of new toys. I felt that the "alien" aspect was humorous, and not really annoying. The last fight is particularly brutal, and I've only succeeded at it once, and it has been the reason I stopped playing several times (any time a game seems to cheat so blatantly in order to make something hard I tend to walk away from it). Some battles specifically stand out - like the Panzerklien factory and taking those down, or the japanese ninja random encounter (where everyone seems to have high stealth and interrupt, and the commander has a katana and can sneak-kill a commando in one round). I've very patient, and don't mind the 'grind' to get some things done. I remember feeling like some things needed a little fixing, but nothing major (like training in Engineering or Medical, or the prerequisite skills for some things - particularly medical items). I prefer my mods to be "tested" and "plug & play" over "fiddle and fart" or "trial and error". I was curious if anyone's ever successfully modded this game, and if so, what did you do to it? I saw what looks like a requirement to get SQL running on the machine in order to mod it - while that doesn't rule it out, it does make it less appealing. Despite the flaws, it's still a hugely fun game for me and I can't stop installing and playing it once a year. I don't have Sentinels (and may never) but have played through this game at least once to completion - which is rare for me. This morning I felt like explosions and gunfights, but tactically. I spent 3 hours last night installing, tweaking, updating, and modding X3 - only to be so worn out from that that I had no interest in actually playing. Post may contain spoilers, but the game is several years old - hope no one minds. ![]()
