![]() ![]() I really wish I could put into words how uninteresting the planning and the characters were, but it's the type of thing where you'll have to see for yourself and just see how boring it really is. Unfortunately, however, it's not like the heist itself is so great that it makes everything before it better. But it is boring and uninteresting until the actual heist. I don't mean to say it's bad, because it's not. As you can see, I wasn't really into this movie at all. Why the fuck not? I mean, there was never any sexual tension between them or any flirting so why not have them end up together. Is it really THAT hard? And, of course, Mark Wahlberg and Charlize Theron end up together at the end of the film. I realize not every heist movie can be Reservoir Dogs, which wasn't even really about the heist, it's about the aftermath of it, but can you at least try to make your characters more than just caricatures. There's literally nothing else to these characters. That's really all there is to these characters. You have the leader, the tech nerd, the driver, the explosive experts, and the lockpicking expert, whose dad was murdered. It all boils down to what everyone's role is in the heist. That's part of the problem of the planning taking up all the time, it means that the characters have to take a backseat. Can anyone honestly tell me they had fun watching these people plan this out? The characters are as one-dimensional as they could possibly be. Not terrible in that it was poorly written or executed, terrible in that it wasn't fun or interesting to watch. Everything about the planning itself was terrible. I'll say this right off the bat, the only reason the film got the rating it did was because the heist itself was plenty exciting and had some good action sequences. ![]() All you can do is hope that the characters are interesting enough to make the planning itself tolerable. It's all about the planning of the heist and I've never, not once, found this to be interesting. I will always dislike heist films because of that. The problem with heist movies is, and always will be, is the planning of the actual heist. ![]()
